How is Philips using video?
Philips launched BlueTube, an internal social video portal, based on Kaltura’s CorporateTube solution, to allow global employees to connect, communicate and collaborate. Philips also integrated video capabilities into their existing Facebook-like internal social network called ‘SocialCast’. They wanted employees worldwide to feel inspired to share stories with each other encouraging collaboration through the use of video.
Personnel have brought innovative and creative experiences to the screen that can be viewed any time, anywhere. Content is diverse ranging from individual life stories and charitable endeavors to professional internal elearning and training. Sharing video across the globe has increased communications and encourages recognition through the ‘liking’ and ‘commenting’ functions. Never before has Philips been able to empower their global workforce to such a large scale and harness the freedom of communication visually.
How to choose a video platform
Key considerations for Philips when choosing an employee empowered video platform were: easy integration into their existing internal social network, extremely simple and intuitive publishing without technical administration and immediate channel creation. Philips also wanted to future-proof the investment by leveraging Kaltura’s open source technology.
